Proof They Existed!

                                                                  Added Truth Supports the Bible.

1 John chapter 2 verses 22 and 23:-   22 Who is the liar but the one who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the antichrist, the one who denies the Father and the Son. 23 Everyone who denies the Son does not have the Father either. But whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.

The Bible always speaks the truth and is the word of God, but many doubt this fact and promote lies, saying that many Bible events have no support in the secular world of mankind even suggesting that some of the people mentioned in the Bible did not exist at all. The list below is a small section of historical information from reliable sources that help us see that there is evidence from around the time of Jesus and his Apostles to provide proof of their existence, also of Jehovah's ability to fulfil prophecy in great detail:

                                                           Mention of Jesus and John the Baptist

Born in AD 37 (about 4 years after the death of Jesus) Flavius Josephus was a Roman–Jewish historian and military leader. Best known for writing The Jewish War, he was born in Jerusalem—then part of the Roman province of Judea—to a father of priestly descent and a mother who claimed royal ancestry. - Below are some of his writings supporting the existence of Jesus, John the Baptist and James the brother of Jesus:

1. Festus was now dead, and Albinus was but upon the road; so he (the High Priest), assembled the Sanhedrin of judges, and brought before them the brother of Jesus, who was called Christ, whose name was James, and some others, [or, some of his companions]; and when he had formed an accusation against them as breakers of the law, he delivered them to be stoned:

2. Now, there was about this time Jesus, a wise man, if it be lawful to call him a man, for he was a doer of wonderful works-a teacher of such men as receive the truth with pleasure. He drew over to him both many of the Jews, and many of the Gentiles.

3. Now some of the Jews thought that the destruction of Herod's army came from God, and that very justly, as a punishment of what he did against John, that was called the Baptist: for Herod slew him, who was a good man, and commanded the Jews to exercise virtue, both as to righteousness towards one another, and piety towards God, and so to come to baptism;

                                                                     The Capture of Babylon

Herodotus born 484 BC (55 years after the fall of Babylon) was a Greek historian and geographer from the Greek city of Halicarnassus, part of the Persian Empire. - He wrote about the fall of the ancient city of Babylon in 539 bce to the Persian army, his account supports the Bible account of this event in almost exactly the same detail.    Isaiah 44:27; 45:1, 2; Jeremiah 50:38; 51:30-32,   these scriptures are well worth reading as they will boost the faith of God fearing people.

he (King Cyrus) then himself drew off with the unwarlike portion of his host, and made for the place where Nitocrisnote dug the basin for the river, where he did exactly what she had done formerly: he turned the Euphrates by a canal into the basin, which was then a marsh, on which the river sank to such an extent that the natural bed of the stream became fordable - Hereupon the Persians who had been left for the purpose at Babylon by the, river-side, entered the stream, which had now sunk so as to reach about midway up a man's thigh. - The Persians came upon them by surprise and so took the city.

                                                                    The Execution of Jesus

Publius Cornelius Tacitus, known simply as Tacitus born AD 56, was a Roman historian and politician. Tacitus is widely regarded as one of the greatest Roman historians by modern scholars.  Tacitus's report confirms what we know from other sources, that Jesus was executed by order of the Roman governor of Judea, Pontius Pilate, sometime during Tiberius's reign.

                                                                  Persecution of Christians

Pliny the Younger, born 61/62 CE Roman author and administrator who left a collection of private letters that intimately illustrated public and private life in the heyday of the Roman Empire.

Meanwhile, in the case of those who were denounced to me as Christians, I have observed the following procedure: I interrogated these as to whether they were Christians; those who confessed I interrogated a second and a third time, threatening them with punishment; those who persisted I ordered executed. For I had no doubt that, whatever the nature of their creed, stubbornness and inflexible obstinacy surely deserve to be punished. There were others possessed of the same folly; but because they were Roman citizens, I signed an order for them to be transferred to Rome.

                                                                    Bible is True History!

2 Timothy chapter 2 verse 16:-   16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness

While these historical writings support the Bible accounts, we as Christians should remember that we are walking by faith, and do not need any conformation that the Bible is a true and faithful witness that is inspired by the true God Jehovah for our benefit, and we can put our full trust in this, but these accounts do help ones who may have been led astray by false teachings to regain balance and faith in the truth of God's word!
